Arizona Cardinals are the New Favorites to Win the NFC West

The Arizona Cardinals were projected to finish last in the NFC West heading into the season.

After nine weeks, they are the new favorites to win the division.

Arizona’s dominant win over the Bears on Sunday has skyrocketed them past the San Francisco 49ers as the new division favorites, according to FTN Fantasy’s highly-respected DVOA forecast.

Odds to Win NFC West

  • Cardinals, 35.9%
  • 49ers, 34.1%
  • Rams, 23.9%
  • Seahawks, 6.1%

It’s still a very tight race, but the Cardinals are right in the mix after almost being left for dead following a 1-3 start.

They currently sit in sole possession of the division lead at 5-4, and are in good shape in tiebreakers as they are 2-0 in the division with head-to-head victories over San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The Cardinals had just a 6.1% chance at making the playoffs after a blowout loss to the Commanders on Sept. 29 dropped them to 1-3, but now are listed at 43.2% following four wins in their ensuing five games.

The betting markets don’t quite sync up, but Arizona is also making up ground there. The Cardinals had +1100 odds to win the division entering the season, which dipped to +1400 odds after their season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills.

But now the Cardinals are hot on the heels of the 49ers.

Betting Odds to Win NFC West

  • 49ers +115
  • Cardinals +210
  • Rams +325
  • Seahawks +1200

Jonathan Gannon has engineered an impressive turnaround in Arizona, and is now starting to get more NFL Coach of the Year buzz.

While Commanders coach Dan Quinn is understandably the favorite, Gannon has been steadily making his way up the board and is now in the top-10 among candidates.

NFL Coach of the Year Odds

  • Dan Quinn +190
  • Andy Reid +650
  • Dan Campbell +750
  • Kevin O’Connell +800
  • Mike Tomlin +850
  • Sean Payton +900
  • Jim Harbaugh +1200
  • Raheem Morris +1400
  • Jonathan Gannon +1600
  • Matt LaFleur +1800
