Nick Saban retired in January, but it’s certainly not unprecedented for football coaches to return to the sidelines after saying they were done.
Could the 73-year-old be coaxed into a comeback?
The New Orleans Saints fired Dennis Allen on Monday, and the former Alabama and LSU legend is among the candidates listed to be the team’s next head coach.
Saban has been given +3300 odds, which is among the longshots. Those odds equate to an implied probability of about 3% that he takes over in New Orleans.
Joe Brady, who was the passing game coordinator for Joe Burrow in LSU’s national championship season in 2019, is the favorite to become the next head coach of the Saints.
Brady, the current offensive coordinator in Buffalo, was an offensive assistant with New Orleans in 2017 and 2018, and has impressed at multiple stops in his coaching tenure.

Saban hasn’t disappeared in retirement as he still does commentating for ESPN, but returning to coach in New Orleans feels quite unlikely, despite finding great success up the road with the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
The Saints could be facing a multi-year rebuild because they are in horrible salary cap shape.
Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been a hot name the past couple hiring cycles, and he could have his pick of jobs this offseason.
Bill Belichick, Kliff Kingsbury, Deion Sanders, Lincoln Riley and Pete Carroll are among the other big names with odds listed to be the next head coach of the Saints.
